My 4 year old son is obsessed with trains! So his great-grandparents decided this would be perfect for him and it was. It was the right length of trip for us and being able to explore the caboose and the engine at the stop was fantastic! He's still talking about it a week later! Thanks to all the volunteers for their hard work.
Don't believe the website. Made reservations for 2 o'clock train for $15 a ticket according to website. Arrived at depot and lady said it'd be $30 a ticket. Explained situation but she wasn't a bit helpful or sympathetic. Train looks like it was dug out of the ditch last night. Not worth the $.
It was pretty fun... But the spot we sat in didn't have a speaker so we didn't here anything the tour guy said... At least we went on a nice day so it wasn't hot on it... But the driver kept hitting the horn and holding it down for a long time, I know it's not there fault but it was obnoxious... And the seat we sat in was was kinda bumpy. But other than that stuff we had fun. Got freaked out on the bridges tho!!
We had a great time. Our young grandsons love trains but, have never been on one until today. Everyone on the staff was very friendly and accomodating. I enjoyed the narrative of the local area history as well as the railroad history. I will visit again.
They were closed the day we drove through Abilene so we were not able to enjoy a train ride. We did have a look around and liked all the old set up they had beside the old train depot.
