Had the opportunity to see how the office was ran back in 2013 when I received a speeding ticket in this county. I didn't feel I was guilty of travelling near as fast as the deputy stated I was, so I fought the ticket. During that time I witnessed the lack of professionalism that the female Asst. Prosecutor had. To me, she appeared to take things personal anyone someone questioned her or made her feel like she was in the wrong. Her demeanor in the court room, including her facial expressions would show that. I think she is upset that she didn't accomplish more in her career as an Attorney and had to settle for a small town. If she were to ever run for a Judge position again, I would gladly assist anyone running against her. I feel that she takes things way to personal and lacks ethics that are needed for that job. She is more concerned about making herself look good than doing what is right. Surprisingly enough during the trial for my speeding ticket here, the only person I felt had integrity was the Deputy who wrote me the ticket. I was impressed with his testimony on the stand but the fact that he relied on a radar unit that hadn't been calibrated by a professional since 2006 was concerning. I would urge anyone who receives a speeding ticket from the Sheriff's Office here and honestly was not going the speed they were accused, to fight the ticket. I know there is one radar that does not work correctly. I am not sure the Judge should be on the bench here either, since the Deputy admitted that he wasn't able to visually verify that my vehicle was travelling at the speed the radar indicated and the radar had not been professionally calibrated in quite some time. Yet, he sided with the Deputy in this case. I testified that I had my cruise set on 65 in the 55 zone yet was accused of travelling 80. This was in a Fiat that the whole reason I took the two lane was because I felt unsafe driving it on the Interstate at fast speeds. Just don't expect a fair deal in this county. I am not sure what their motive is in this office.
