I'm living in Abilene for the next few months and I was very pleased to see that there is a bookstore right in town. This is a used book store, but all the books are in excellent condition and its as if you're buying them new. I think that the books are reasonably priced, most were under $10.

Fantastic and huge bookstore! Great selection of equally new and used books. Very knowledgeable employees. Plan to spend some time here! ( very nice selection of puzzles and children's gifts as well!)

There is also a cafe located in the back of the store that serves delicious sandwiches and cookie bars, but they are quite expensive. I got a chicken salad croissant sandwich (which was pretty good, but I could have made a better chicken salad at home) with tiny side portion of pasta salad, and this even tinier pastry for $8. It was still, pretty tasty and I didn't really mind paying that much after wards.

So in short, the product is good but don't expect a friendly greeting from the crab behind the counter!

The only real problem I have with this place is how unfriendly the staff is within the bookstore and the cafe. I'm from the south and I'm used to getting friendly and helpful service from staff. Sometimes you'll have a hard time getting them to leave you alone because southerners tend to be so talkative and outgoing. It seems that the staff here doesn't want to take the time to talk and get to know their customers. I actually felt like I was severely annoying this one lady who was working behind the counter when I asked her the name of an author. Also the lady in the cafe carried on a conversation with her coworker the whole time and barely acknowledged me other than to take my order. Maybe this is normal in Kansas and I'm just not used to it?

Good local bookstore, not too many selections and a bit pricey on used books, but great character

So many fantastic book selections. Yiu can get lost in your own world. I could just spend an entire day there
